Camper FAQ.

1. WHAT IF I GET HOMESICK?
Everyone gets homesick sometimes (even your counselors and us, the directors) and that is ok. At Camp Tioga, you will be surrounded by an incredible group of counselors, division leaders, coaches and directors that are all there to make sure you have the best summer possible. We even have a Camp Mom to come tuck you in at night. Any time you feel a little bit homesick, we are going to get you up and involved in some of the wildest, craziest, most fun activities you can imagine.

2. WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CAMP?
We will send you a list of what to bring to camp to use as a guideline, but remember that we have all the sports equipment and supplies you will need. If you have a favorite mitt, or a skateboard, go ahead and bring them, but we have everything you will need to have the most fun ever.

3. WHAT IF I DON’T KNOW ANYONE AT CAMP WHEN I GET THERE?
Going to sleepaway camp is all about meeting new people, making new friends and sharing experiences you will remember and talk about for the rest of your life. As soon as you get to camp, and even before you get there on the buses, you will meet your bunkmates and counselors and before you know it, you will know every person at Camp Tioga. We are one big family at Camp Tioga, and everyone gets to know absolutely everyone!

4. CAN I PLAY ON INTERCAMP TEAMS?
Absolutely. We are involved in inter-camp games almost everyday and anyone that wants to be on a team will. At Camp Tioga, we don’t have try-outs, so all you need to do is sign up and be ready to play.

5. WHAT IS THERE TO EAT AT MEALTIMES?
Meal times are just loaded with options. Along with a delicious main course for every meal (From Pancakes, French Toast, and Eggs at breakfast, to Pizza, Chicken Parmesan, and Stir-fry for lunch and dinner), we always have several salad bars, pasta bars, cold cuts, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, and much more. If there is something else you may want, just ask us. No one ever leaves our Dining Hall hungry!

6. DO I GET TO CHOOSE ACTIVITIES?
Most definitely. Every day there are two choice periods where you pick your activities. Along with that, we go over your bunk schedules every week to make sure you get all the activities you want. We even arrange for private and small group lessons whenever there is down time so you can really improve your skills in any of the activities we offer at camp.

7. CAN I CALL HOME?
We will set up a day and time each week, except the first and last week of camp, that you will call home. All phone calls are in the evening so you won’t have to worry about missing any activities.

8. CAN I CHECK MY EMAIL?
We have a computer center so you can check your email and write to your friends and family back home. You can use the same email account you use all year, and if you don’t have one, we will help you set one up.

9. WHAT IS THERE TO DO AT CAMP?
A better question would be, "what isn’t there to do at camp?” We have over 90 different activities, and are adding more all the time. If there is something you can think of that we don’t have, TELL US, and we will try and add it to our list of activities. Camp Tioga is YOUR camp and we want to offer you all the things you like to do or want to try.

10. WHAT DO WE DO AT NIGHT?
Every night we have a special evening activity. From outside entertainers like hypnotists and jugglers, to rock concerts, talent shows, movies, DJ’s, Halloween parties, and campfires, we always have something great in store for you.

11. DO WE GO ON TRIPS?
Tuesdays are trip days at Camp Tioga and we go to some of the best places around. Amusement parks, water parks and sporting events are all on our list, and don’t be surprised if we throw in a mystery trip now and then as well.

12. WHAT IF MY BIRTHDAY IS DURING CAMP?
Have you ever had 400 people sing happy birthday to you all at the same time? We put on a birthday party like no one else, and yes, you do get a cake. You also get to pick a prize from the magical birthday lottery machine. You could win a pizza party for your bunk, private canteen party or maybe even a trip to the movies. How about that for a birthday present?

13. CAN I GET MAIL OR PACKAGES?
Absolutely. Make sure that all your friends and family have the address of Camp Tioga (RD 1 box 54, Thompson, PA 18465) so they can send mail directly to you while you are at camp. Your parents will be getting special labels too, so they can send packages to you.

14. WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Nothing stops the fun at Camp Tioga. We have plenty of indoor space and activities for bad weather, and everyone agrees that the quad track is even more fun when its muddy.

15. WHAT IF I GET SICK?
There are always three nurses (RN's) and a doctor at camp, and even a Camp Mom to come tuck you in at night if you aren’t feeling 100 percent. Whether you just need some chicken soup, a hug, or a little bit of rest, we will get you back to feeling great and having fun in no time.

16. WHERE DOES EVERYONE COME FROM?
If you can think of a place, there is a pretty good chance we have had a camper or counselor at camp who comes from there. Our campers and counselors come from all over the United States and around the world. Not only will you get to try many new and different activities this summer, you’ll also get to meet some incredible people from some amazing places.

17. DO I HAVE TO WEAR A UNIFORM?
Every camper wears a Camp Tioga T-shirt on trip days. Other than that, you can wear whatever you'd like. Just make sure to wear comfortable clothing that you can have fun and do anything in. You never know when there might be a food fight!

18. WHO CAN I TALK TO IF I HAVE A QUESTION OR A PROBLEM?
Ronnie, Dale, Wags, and Kuz are always around to make sure you are having a great time, and so are all your counselors, division leaders, coaches, and upper staff. If there is ever anything you want to know, or are worried about all you have to do is let us know. During camp, we are always there for you. Before camp begins and after camp is over, we are only a phone call or e-mail away.

19. DO WE GET TO CAMP OUT AT NIGHT?
Absolutely! We have camp outs each week of the summer. The stars at night on our upper field will blow your mind. We even have telescopes for any amateur astronomers out there.

20. CAN I DECORATE THE BUNK?
Of course. Campers and counselors bring posters and pictures of their friends and family to decorate the bunk. You can even create things in Arts & Crafts to hang up around the bunk and give it your own distinct style.

21. HOW WILL I KNOW WHERE TO GO OR WHAT TO DO WHEN I GET TO CAMP?
As soon as you arrive your counselors will take you on a complete tour of the camp. They will also help you choose your activities for choice periods, and let you know about all the special activities and events that go on. We are all there to make sure you have a great summer, so any time you have a question, all you have to do is ask.

22. WHAT IF I RUN OUT OF TOOTHPASTE OR SHAMPOO?
We keep all the basic necessities in our camp store for just such an emergency. There are toothbrushes, hair brushes, pens, pencils, envelopes, paper, deodorant, batteries, postcards, and any other items that you may need during the summer. Just let us know and we will get it for you.

23. WHAT TIME IS WAKE UP?
On regular days, wake-up is at 8:15. Sometimes, the morning after a late-night special event, we have extra late wake-ups.

24. WHEN DO I HAVE TO GO TO SLEEP?
Evening activities can occasionally last pretty late, and some nights you may get extra time in the canteen. Usually we try to get everyone back into their bunks by 10-10:30PM, although some special events can last even later.

25. WHAT IF I FORGET TO BRING SOMETHING FROM HOME?
If you get to camp and there is anything you think you needed but left at home, don’t worry. We will call your parents and have it mailed to camp A.S.A.P. if it is something we don’t already have for you.
