The magic of Camp Tioga is only possible because of the handpicked team we’ve brought in to help create our special environment. Find out what it’s like to be part of our team.
Looking to spend your summer making a difference? Join the Camp Tioga family for a life changing experience! We strive to create a safe, fun environment for each and every camper and staff member. No other summer job will give you opportunities to find out more about yourself than sleep away camp.
As a General Counselor you will be living alongside the campers in a communal bunk setting. You will be eating meals with them, joining in with their activities, supervising them during field trips and hanging out with them during their rest periods. The relationships you develop with your campers are integral to them having the summer of their life!
Specialist counselors are staff with experience in, and the ability to lead their chosen activity. Although you will still live with your group of campers, a portion of your day will be spent specializing. We run early morning activities, scheduled periods, and sessions during rest time. Specialists work with campers of all ages while at their activity, while always returning to their own campers when not at their activity area.

As a lifeguard, you also take on the role of the General Counselor. In addition to these responsibilities you will have your own separate schedule where you will lifeguard at one of two waterfronts. Camp Tioga has two swimming pools as well as a picturesque lake over looking 30 miles of endless mountains. All lifeguards should have previously held a lifeguard qualification, although full American Red Cross training will be given.
As a Ropes Instructor, you also take on the role of the General Counselor. In addition to these responsibilities you will have your own separate schedule where you will run our ropes course. Previous experience is not required but advantageous as a full 3 day training course must be completed prior to being qualified to work on the course.
What is staff orientation?
Orientation is our opportunity to give you the knowledge and tools you will need for the summer ahead. It’s a chance to get to know the rest of the summer staff and acclimate before our camper’s arrival.
Will I have access to the Internet?
Yes! We have a computer center that will be available to you during your time off.
Where does the staff come from?
All over the world! Along with counselors from North America we recruit from over 20 other countries to fill all of our summer positions.
What is the weather like?
We get a little of everything. The days can be extremely hot, and the nights much cooler. A rain jacket is important for those rainy days too!
Is there a camp uniform?
We provide staff shirts that are to be worn on weekends and anytime you leave the campgrounds whilst on duty.
How often does laundry get done?
Laundry is done once a week. Our laundry service will take the laundry one day and bring it back the next day!
Am I allowed to bring my cell phone?
Absolutely. We do not allow cell phones around camp, but we will store it in the office under lock and key where you can take it during your time off.
How much time off will I get?
You will have 5 days off during the summer. These will be from week two to week six of camp. You will also receive another night off each week.
